Our community of care prioritizes service and giving

Within our community of care at Point32Health, corporate citizenship is the heart of what we do. Through annual events like Volunteer Week, our colleagues come together to cultivate healthier communities where we live and work. And volunteering doesn’t just help nonprofit organizations make communities stronger, there are also proven benefits for volunteers like improved mental health and well-being and finding a sense of purpose, as well as a boost in camaraderie for organizations who are giving back together. In fact, a recent survey of Point32Health colleagues indicated that 94% of respondents felt that volunteering has a positive impact on their well-being – and when our community of care is functioning at our best, we can do our best work for the communities we serve.

In 2023, Point32Health colleagues volunteered 11,489 hours – up more than 20 percent from 2022 and valued at nearly $460,000. Point32Health’s 2024 Volunteer Week took place June 10-14. A record 1,900+ Point32Health colleagues served together in community at 90 projects, completing more than 5,400 hours of service and supporting 75 organizations across our five core states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island. And this year, we expanded our reach, inviting colleagues in other states to participate in virtual projects or serve in local communities.

“Volunteer days are the boost that keeps us going. As with most nonprofits the to-do list is long and the amount of time we have to get so much done is short. These volunteer days are a huge boost to our team, and we are extremely grateful! Thanks so very much!” Nonprofit partner
“Everyone was enthusiastic and friendly and happy to be here. They were all very interested in being here and finding out more about our mission. It was a great day all around.” Nonprofit partner
“As a remote worker, I find it incredibly rewarding to have the flexibility to engage in community service. Volunteering provides me with a sense of fulfillment and the chance to contribute positively to other's lives additionally, it's a wonderful opportunity to meet new people and connect with colleagues.” Point32Health Colleague
“Volunteer Week is my favorite week of the Point32Health year. It's an opportunity to serve our communities, work on team building skills - most often with people whom you've never worked with before. It really highlights that we are all together as an organization because it is easy to work together and often we accomplish more than the partnering organizations expect. It might seem like a small project or day to us, but it's a huge weight off these organizations' to-do lists.” Point32Health Colleague

Volunteer Week 2024

This year, Point32Health volunteers did meaningful work with local nonprofits – prepping and serving meals, sorting donations, planting community gardens, and building beds are just a few examples – all to advance community health for everyone. Many of the new projects this year were recommended by colleagues who saw a need for hands-on support in their own local communities – and took action to address these needs through Point32Health Volunteer Week.
