Volunteer Week 2023: Our commitment to community engagement
At Point32Health, one of our core values is building community. But our enterprise-wide community engagement efforts are so much more than a mission statement; they are central to who we are and what we do as an organization. Across Point32Health, our passion for corporate citizenship is demonstrated by grants to community nonprofit organizations, supporting colleagues in their giving and service, taking the lead on issues that matter to our members and colleagues, and volunteering.
In honor of that passion, we are proud to highlight another successful Volunteer Week, an annual commitment we make as an organization to encourage colleagues to take time off work to give back to New England communities. More than a third of colleagues participated as well as 100 percent of our senior leaders. Through both in-person and virtual service opportunities, Point32Health colleagues donated more than 4,000 hours to nonprofit organizations in the areas in which they live and work.
Volunteer Week 2023 – By the Numbers
- 70 volunteer projects completed across our 5 core states
- 1,400 Point32Health colleagues participated
- 4,000+ hours volunteered
- 100% of nonprofit organizations surveyed reported that their project met a need for the community.
- 96% of nonprofit organizations ranked their likelihood to work with Point32Health again in future volunteer projects as extremely likely.
Positive outcomes of sustained community engagement
Many of the nonprofit organizations who welcome Point32Health volunteers for our annual week of service reported that Point32Health’s volunteers made a real difference through their work.
“We loved having Point32Health volunteer with us! They came to their volunteer shift extremely prepared and ready to work in our kitchen. We are so grateful for our partnership with Point32Health and are already looking forward to the volunteer week next year!”
The growing need for corporate citizenship
A recent survey from Fidelity Charitable highlighted the growing need for organizations to adopt proactive community engagement and philanthropic initiatives.
Among those surveyed, 86% of employees said it’s important to work for a company whose values align with their own, and 81% want to work for a company that has socially responsible business practices.
Point32Health colleagues desire to give back to causes that matter to them, and we strive to make it as easy as possible. In addition to matching gifts for colleagues who give time or money to nonprofit organizations, everyone is allocated 24 hours of paid time off to volunteer each calendar year. We are grateful that so many take advantage of these benefits.
And our organization’s hard work and commitment to service helped us earn recognition by The Civic 50 list of socially responsible companies by Points of Life for the third time. This distinction recognizes how companies are integrating social impact, civic engagement and community in their values and core business.
