Point32Health & our family of companies celebrate Boston Marathon weekend 2024

Throughout the 2024 Boston Marathon weekend, Point32Health, the official health benefits provider of the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), was on display at a number of running and fan events held throughout the city. These activations put Point32Health front and center at one of the most iconic sporting events in the region with worldwide reach, and allowed us to increase awareness of the organization while promoting our health and well-being initiatives.

Boston Marathon Weekend Recap

Fan Fest

This year, Fan Fest was relocated to City Hall plaza, which provided a wide open space for visitors to explore the booths, listen to live music and take in the sights. Throughout the weekend, tens of thousands of fans and athletes alike visited the Point32Health booth where they could spin the prize wheel and take home a commemorative memento to remember race weekend. Wally the Green Monster even stopped by to meet and greet fans and pose for photos.

The Boston 5K, Presented by Point32Health

Point32Health served as the presenting sponsor of the Boston 5K held on Saturday morning of Boston Marathon Weekend. This race drew a record-breaking 9,165 participant field, more than 200 of which were Point32Health colleagues and friends and family. The 3.2 Recovery Zone tent was again a hit amongst the athletes who were able to participate in warm up exercises led by athletes from Special Olympics Massachusetts. Post race, there were cooldown essentials available to runners including yoga mats, foam rollers, ice packs and other recovery tools.

Aging Strong: Running Through Life’s Miles and Milestones Panel

On Saturday, Point32Health hosted a panel titled, “Aging Strong: Running Through Life’s Miles and Milestones,” held at The Expo stage. Moderated by NESN’s Tom Caron, 2x Boston Marathon champion and Olympic gold medalist Joan Benoit-Samuelson was joined by Point32Health “Catch the Unicorn” contest winner Paulette Murphy to discuss their experiences as older runners.

 The Expo

The Boston Marathon Expo was buzzing all weekend, as it drew 80,000+ visitors looking for sponsor exhibitors, race merchandise and other fun events. The Point32Health booth was a fan favorite, as it featured a commemorative wall with the name of every age 60+ marathon participant who were invited to stop by and highlight their place on the wall. We also had a photo booth where visitors could make their own sports trading card, and an area where fans could make cheer signs for race day.

 Cheer Zone

Finally on Marathon Monday, Point32Health hosted an official cheer zone near mile 20 on Heartbreak Hill. Here fans could make signs to cheer on their favorite runners at one of the most iconic spots along the race route.

Congratulations to all the runners and to all of the Point32Health volunteers who helped make this a fantastic marathon weekend.
